Effect of yoga practice on subjectively perceived medical condition
Schneibergová, Barbora ; Novotná, Klára (advisor) ; Šonská, Kristýna (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the influence of yoga on the subjectively perceived health status of practitioners. The theoretical part briefly describes the system of yoga, including its history, the most commonly practiced styles and the eight limbs of yoga. In addition, the theoretical part contains a description of the effects of yoga on the organism of healthy individuals, but also its use in various diagnoses. I also focused on the risks of practicing yoga, including various injuries or pain. Furthermore, I briefly described the possibility of using yoga in physiotherapy and the recommendations for practicing yoga from the perspective of a physiotherapist. In the practical part I processed the results of the questionnaire survey. The effect of practicing yoga on health status was described as positive, however, if the approach is correctly chosen and sufficiently individual. If these recommendations are followed and the yoga is practiced under qualified supervision or after proper training, there may be no adverse effects for practitioners.
Influencig painful menstruation with the help of physiotherapy
VACKOVÁ, Zuzana
This bachelor thesis deals with how physiotherapy can influence a painful menstruation. The aim of this thesis is to describe how women can utilise physiotherapeutic methods, which can be practised at home, while experiencing difficulties with a painful menstruation. Another aim was to determine how these methods influence muscles of the pelvic floor. Research question is focused on subjective perception of this therapy by women. Although the aim of this thesis is to describe physiotherapeutic methods applicable even at home, I also decided to include methods of physical therapy which cannot be practised without specialised equipment. There are a lot of methods in the field of physiotherapy which can somehow influence and mitigate pain during menstruation, and a lot of other methods can be found in other fields of medicine. Due to a limited extent of my thesis, I wasn't able to focus on all approaches, only on the most used. All therapeutic procedures, which women would like to include in their life, should be consulted with a professional who shall explain an outcome of this therapy, who shall show them how to use this therapy properly and who shall point out errors which should be avoided. A part of my thesis also focuses on methods that aren't closely connected with physiotherapy, but which can nicely add to it. For my research part of my thesis, three young women with a long-term menstrual pain have been selected. At the beginning of my research, they were all using hormonal contraception. Detailed anamnestic data were collected from a direct and a semi-structured interview. During the first meeting, a kinesiological analysis was created, probands were examined and therapy started. After that, an exercise unit was checked and errors were corrected. At each therapy, interviews were conducted with probands and they were asked if some exercises hadn't been too difficult and if they hadn't caused them pain. For a therapy of this group of women, a set of exercises was selected, which contained some elements from a method of Ludmila Mojžíšová, dynamic neuromuscular stabilization and spiral dynamics. During the research, probands P1 a P3 reacted fairly well to the selected therapy. Considerable remission of difficulties and also general contentment during regular appointments were apparent. A noticeable progress wasn't, however, experienced by a proband P2. This fact was mainly due to her stress experienced in her school. Even with this very small sample of women, it is possible to register an influence of therapy on a peace of mind, therefore, it is imperative that physical and mental aspects of this therapy are not separated.
Holding therapy according to Dr. Jirina Prekop in social work
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Radka
This bachelor's work entitled "Holding therapy by Prekop used in social work" deals with a topic which is in my opinion very up to date and interesting, for some people a little controversial. Therefore it was more interesting to carry out this work and in the practical part to map how this method is viewed by social workers in facilities offering social services according to the Act (Legal Gazette 108/2006) concerning social services in the South Bohemia. The first theoretical part is focused on the historical development of this method. Even if this method is relatively new. Then it is focused on the status of the Holding therapy by Prekop (HTP) in psychotherapy, where it belongs among alternative, potentially dangerous or problematic approaches in psychotherapy, conceptions with a tight connection to HTP, because this therapy is to rekindle love and bonds between the participants of the therapy, definition of the method, essential aims, forms and contraindications of the therapy, how the training of the therapists is provided and to the ethical codex. It further describes the current state of this method in the Czech republic and its connection with social work. The last chapter is dedicated to the social facilities, offering social services, defined in the Act mentioned above. Because the practical part of this work is focused on social workers and workers providing social services in social facilities according to the mentioned Act. For dealing with the practical part I determined two sub-objectives. The purpose of the first one was to find out, if the social workers and the workers in social services in social facilities know about HTP. The purpose of the second one was to find out, if the HTP method is used when working with clients anywhere in the South Bohemia. I set two hypotheses on the bases of these aims. The first hypothesis: "The method of the Holding therapy by Prekop is not widespread among the social facilities in the South Bohemia." And the second hypothesis: "The workers in social services and social workers in the South Bohemia are not sufficiently informed about the¨ possibility of using the HTP method." The data for my research were gained by making a survey using questionnaires. There were 22 questions altogether. 19 closed ones, 1 semi-closed one and 2 open ones. (see the attachment number 3). The representative sample was made of social workers and workers providing social services in social facilities in the South Bohemia according to the mentioned Act. I looked up the facilities in the Register of providers of social services, which is supervised by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The research was divided into two phases. In the first phase I chose 12 organisations out of 72 (the total amount) to make a pre-research. Then I addressed the 60 remaining ones. I was told to be given back the filled in questionnaires by 50 organisations. I distributed 250 questionnaires altogether, I left them in the facilities from one to two weeks and then I personally collected them. I got back 238 filled in questionnaires. I had to take out 12 questionnaires because of faults and missing information. Therefore the data were gathered from 226 questionnaires. I used the categorical data analysis and the statistical processing using second grade sorting to evaluate the gathered data. The correctness of the hypotheses was tested by chi-square test of compliance. The data from the survey are showed in graphs and tables and then more precisely in the discussion part. The first hypothesis: "The method of the Holding therapy by Prekop is not widespread among the social facilities in the South Bohemia." was confirmed. And the second hypothesis: "The workers in social services and social workers in the South Bohemia are not sufficiently informed about the possibility of using the HTP method." was disproved.
